How to Float a TV Stand with Television Bracket

August 2, 2012

To install a TV in your living or bedroom requires that you not only cater for comfortable viewing but also how to maximize space around the installed black tv stand. A sure way to keep your TV out of the way is to use wall mounts which disadvantageously do provide space for storage of other compatible media. One of the alternatives is to use cantilever television brackets to float your black TV stand. The limitation of the television brackets is the amount of weight they can support which limits the collective number of devices that will depend on it for support. All the same, shelves can also be included on the TV stand to store cable boxes, DVD players and cable and video systems.

To float a black TV stand the following steps should be followed:

You should determine the weights of the black TV stand, the television bracket, and the weights of whatever else will be held by the TV Stand. This information is obtainable from the manuals. Another way to obtain the weight will be to use a bathroom scale. Determine your weight. Then lift the black TV stand or the television brackets then stand on the scale. The difference between this latter weight and your weight is the required weight.

ü  Place all the other electronic or media devices into the TV stand shelves or the drawers.

ü  Fix stud finders on the wall locations where the TV stands are to be floated and mark these locations. Divide the width of the black TV stand by the distance between the studs in order to know the number of television brackets that are needed. The figures will not be perfectly divisible so a wise estimate on the lower or higher end is necessary. For example, for a 35 inch wide TV and a wall studs placed 16 inches apart it will be prudent to use 3 television brackets.

ü  Next is to install the cantilever television brackets. A lot of precaution needs to be taken concerning the combined weights for stability of the black TV stand and the other components attached to it. The weight ratings for the cantilever wall brackets should add up to the total weight of a loaded black TV stand and better yet it should exceed this weight. The weight of at least one television bracket should exceed the weight of the black TV stand.

ü  The television brackets are then screwed into the wall, just directly over the locations of the studs. The television brackets should all be installed at the same height and this can only be ensured if you measure the height of each television bracket from the floor. Before attaching the brackets to the wall, place a level on each of them to ensure they will be even. The bracket screws should be drilled till the heads are with no doubt tight against the brackets.

Screw the black tv stand from below firmly into the brackets with smaller screws that come with the brackets and there you have your black TV Stand mounted on the walls.
